The LIVE, LAUGH, LEARN...Emily Huntington Memorial Scholarship was established in 2012 by JCD High School. Emily, 18 years old, was a senior when she was killed in a tragic single car accident. She had been texting and driving and was not wearing her seatbelt. Emily was a very active participant in JCD athletic and extracurricular programs. She was a member of the school's golf team, dance team, SADD chapter, art club, Sunshine Society and was crowned Miss Sunshine at their dance. Emily was also elected by her class to represent the school at the Aurora Farmer's Fair queen contest. As co-captain of the varsity girls' basketball team, she was the leading scorer.

She was a beautiful, fun, sweet and talented young lady who had many friends; she was also a compassionate person. On December 7, 2011, she was accepted at Indiana University to pursue her creative side by majoring in graphic design.  In the fall of 2011, she designed an art project titled "Live, Laugh, Learn" which was used as the 2012 JCD yearbook theme.

Following her tragic death, a fundraiser, "Pack the Gym for Em," was held to raise funds for her scholarship and create an endowment. Together, the school and community raised over $35,000 in Emily's memory!

Four LLL Scholarships were awarded to Emily's Class of 2012 classmates who were involved in Emily's favorite activities: one classmate who was involved in Basketball, another in Dance, Golf, and Art, etc. For the next 10 years (Classes of 2013 through 2022), a $1,000 LIVE, LAUGH, LEARN...Emily Huntington Memorial Scholarship will be awarded. Beginning with the Class of 2023, the amount of the LLL scholarship will be determined by the amount of earnings that can be garnered on the investment of the original endowment. The LIVE, LAUGH, LEARN...Emily Huntington Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a qualifying JCD senior who has been an active participant in academic, athletic and community activities.

Jodi Comer, Emily Huntington's Mother, presented her daughter's 2014 $1,000 scholarship to Sydney Keene, who attends IU Southeast, New Albany, Indiana.
