The Donn Snedaker Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 by Donn's family and friends following his untimely death in August 2009. Those who knew Donn appreciated his devotion to his family and friends and miss his presence greatly.

Donn's 32-year devotion to education began after his graduation from South Ripley High School and Ball State University where earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and Principal's license.  He began his teaching career as an elementary teacher at Osgood Elementary.  Although Donn didn't have children of his own, he considered JCD students his children and was a guiding light for many of them. He followed their lives from their elementary years through high school and into their adult lives offering encouragement and guidance.

Donn's memorial service was held in the JCD high school gym with more people attending than many basketball games--a fitting tribute to Donn and his devotion to JCD, students, and their families. Speakers related how Donn had touched their lives and how much he meant to them.
